SSC CGL 2019 Eligibility
In order to fulfil SSC CGL 2019 eligibility criteria candidates, need to meet the parameters mentioned below:
• Nationality/ Citizenship: A candidate must either be a citizen of India, a person of India origin migrated from Pakistan/ Burma/ Sri Lanka/ East African countries of Kenya/ Uganda/ the United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi/ Zaire/ Ethiopia/ Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject of Nepal/ Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India.
The official website informs, “A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.”
• Age Limit: All candidates applying for SSC CGL 2019 exam must fall in the age bracket as mentioned in the table below. However, it may be noted that five years, three years, and 10 years age relaxation beyond the upper age limit is permissible for SC/ ST, OBC, and PH candidates, respectively.
Skill Test
The skill test conducted by the commission is of two types as mentioned below:
Data Entry Skill Test (DEST): This test is conducted for candidates who apply for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax). As part of the test, all candidates need to type at 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depression per hour on computer. The skill test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 key depressions for a duration of 15 minutes. The test is of qualifying nature.
Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): This test is conducted for candidates who apply for the posts of Assistant Section Officer (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant Section Officer (AFHQ), and Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines and Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBEC. The test is of qualifying nature and consists of three modules:

SSC CGL 2020 Process
Step 1: Fill SSC CGL Application Form
For CGL 2019 registrations, candidates can fill and submit the application form in the online mode on the official website of the commission. Thereafter, candidates also need to submit CGL 201 application fee in the online mode (credit card/ debit card/ SBI net banking/ SBI bank challan generated online).
Application fee: Rs 100
It may be noted that all women candidates and SC/ ST/ PH candidates are exempted from paying the CGL application fee.
Step 2: Download SSC CGL Admit Card/ Admission Certificate
Candidates can download SSC CGL 2019 admit card from the official website of the commission’s concerned regional office at least two weeks before the commencement of the exam. The admit card will contain details such as date, time, and exact venue of the examination. Candidates need to carry the admit card along with one ID proof to the allotted CGL 2019 exam centre.
Step 3: Appear for SSC CGL Exam
Next, candidates need to appear for CGL 2019 exam. The Common Graduate Level exam is conducted in four tiers – I, II, III, and IV. Tier–I and II contain objective questions that candidates need to answer in online mode. Tier–III is a descriptive paper that candidates need to write in pen-and-paper mode. Tier-IV contains a skill test (if applicable)/ document verification.
Step 4: Check CGL Result
After exams of all tiers are conducted, an all India merit list is declared by SSC. The list contains the names of all candidates shortlisted for jobs for posts in various ministries/ departments/ organisations.
